225 Rail and UTLX Announce Strategic Partnership FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CHICAGO – Union Tank Car Company (UTLX), a Marmon Rail/Berkshire Hathaway company, and 225 Rail are pleased to announce a strategic partnership to serve railcar owners and shippers in the Houston Ship Channel. UTLX will provide railcar cleaning and repair services at 225 Rail’s 1,000-railcar storage terminal in Pasadena, TX. The UTLX and 225 Rail partnership represents a significant investment in Houston’s rail infrastructure, enhancing both operational efficiency and regional economic growth.
225 Rail’s site is low freight cost and centrally located to meet the growing demands of railcar owners and shippers in the region. 225 Rail is served by the Port Terminal Railroad Association (PTRA) with access to UP, BNSF and CPKC mainline railroads. UTLX will utilize the Pasadena site for repair, requalification, and cleaning services.
Equipped to handle various railcar types, including tank cars and hopper cars, the repair facility aims to significantly reduce out-of-service time for car owners and shippers, ensuring improved fleet utilization through fast, reliable service.
